about: Christy Boyd, Business & Computer Applications teacher, is completing her 9th year at OHS. She grew up & did her student teaching & her first 2 years of teaching in her home town of Mars Hill. She then found herself moving about & applying her skills in different office situations. She finally moved back to Maine, & began applying for teaching positions. The only one available was in Jackman, Maine, where she stayed for a year. Then she moved on to teach in Presque Isle, Bangor Job Corp, Beal College, & onto OHS. She says that OHS is the perfect fit for her, enjoys her job & the students here. Orono offers the students a lot of opportunity & a great education.

about: Ms. Goodall received her Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of Maine in secondary social studies and her undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College (Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania) with a major in Growth and Structure of Cities. Before coming to Orono High School, she taught for two years at Reeds Brook Middle School and Hampden Academy. Before teaching Ms. Goodall worked in computer and technology support and training for liberal arts colleges. In addition to teaching and traveling, she has a keen interest for instructional technology and ice hockey.

about: Mrs. Holmes attended University of Maine Farmington where she received her Bachelors of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education. She then attended the University of Maine and received her Masters in Secondary Technology Education. She is the Math Team Coach and Class Advisor to the Class of 2012! Previous to teaching at Orono High School, Mrs. Holmes taught at Hampden Academy and Winslow High School.

about: Margie Innis earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Ohio University. Before having children, Mrs. Innis taught Math, Chemistry, and Science in Ohio and New Jersey. While being a stay-at-home mom, she was also a private tutor for 12 years and, most recently, taught College Algebra at the University of Maine for 3 years. When the Innis family moved to Maine, they choose to live in Orono because of the schools and Mrs. Innis is very proud to now be a part of the Orono schools at Orono High School teaching math.

about: Mr. Libby attended the University of Maine Orono where he received his Bachelors of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education. He has been teaching math for six years, all at OHS. He also coaches the indoor and spring track teams.


Ms. Jaclyn Tourtelotte

about: Jaclyn Tourtelotte received her BS in Kinesiology and Physical Education from The University of Maine in 2003 and continued on with a MEd in Educational Leadership in 2005. Received certification as an Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification in 2004 and previously worked in the Rehabilitation Department of UM's Cutler Health Center.

She began teaching career at Orono High School in 2005 in Physical Education and is looking forward to her second year at OHS. Mrs. Tourtelotte also serves as the Athletic Trainer to all Riot student-athletes and as assistant class advisor for the class of 2009.

Outside of school she enjoys fishing, camping, kayaking, hiking,and other outdoor pursuits.

about: Part of the joy, the thrill, that propels young people off to school is discovering, Oh, this is how other people conduct their lives. This is what other people do. This is how they think.

For that reason, I believe that "reading and writing should float on a sea of talk." I do my best to foster classroom discussion that, however informal it might seem, goes somewhere. The idea is to provide students with models of good thinking, even instruction in the process of thinking, and certainly time to practice thinking, through exchanges with others in class.

I hold degrees in English and in Microbiology. My current focus is adolescent literacy.

about: Jeff Owen received an MS in Teaching (2003) and a BS in Biology (1988) from the University of Maine. He has taught high school sciences at a variety of schools in Maine and New Hampshire for 17 years, and holds an adjunct faculty position at UMaine to help teach an Earth Science graduate course for current and future teachers. Jeff has a wife and two young children and he enjoys carpentry, camping, fly fishing, running, and, especially, canoe racing.

about: Rose Scheidt, graduate Univ. of Presque Isle 1985 BS, continuous education in Special Education. First teaching job Veazie Elementary as a Special Education Teacher. Substitute teacher Lincoln Maine, Machias Maine and PreK-12 roving substitute teacher all subjects Niagara Wisconsin. Odyssey of the Mind Coach 3 years, Destination Imagination Coach 4 years. Speech Team Judge, Talent Show Coordinator, Parent Group Secretary/Treasure 1996-2001. Mother of 3 children. Married for 25 years to David, who is currently putting up with mom in the work force full-time. My hobbies, singing, hiking, ASL, playing board games and reading.


Mrs. Leslie Winchester

about: Leslie Winchester has a BS in Kinesiology and Physical Education from the University of Maine. Leslie has been teaching at Orono for seven years. "The physical education program at Orono is unique. We offer students a variety of choices for both activities and the types of physical education classes that are offered. We have a growing ropes course with both low and high elements that all ninth grade students have the opportunity to experience."
