Plan for Consolidation Passes!
On January 27th, voters in Glenburn, Orono, and Veazie voted to approve the plan to consolidate administration of their respective schools. The three communities have until July 1st to organize and begin operating as a combined unit to be known as Riverside RSU.
Proposed Consolidation Plan Available for Review
A group of dedicated RPC members from Glenburn, Orono, and Veazie have been meeting weekly since February to create a "Plan for Consolidation" which meets the requirements of the law. You can read the updated summary here! The Plan was developed as the result of continued meetings of the Regionalization Planning Committee and the feedback gathered at community forums held during the week of September 8th. An updated FAQ was developed based on the initial concerns from the community forums and revised recently as more questions have emerged. Since the submission of the original plan, revisions have been made at the request of the Commissioner. The lastest revised plan was submitted on Nov 14 and has been approved by the Commissioner.
